The journal also encourages self-archiving of published articles in accordance with its Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). In addition, the journal is exploring opportunities for inclusion in other established preservation systems, such as PORTICO, to further strengthen its long-term archiving strategy.

Journal History: 

| Animal Reports | journal was established in 2025 as an open-access scholarly journal. It obtained its electronic ISSN (eISSN: 3068-5044) in the same year, followed by the assignment of a print ISSN (pISSN: 3071-4141) in 2026, marking its transition to both electronic and print publication formats.
