Society Affiliation Program Policy

Policy of Journals – Society Affiliation Program (JSAP)

Purpose of JSAP

The Journals – Society Affiliation Program is established to foster strategic, non-exclusive collaborations between Animal Reports and professional or scientific societies whose missions align with the journal’s aims and scope. Scientific societies play a central role in advancing research, supporting scholars, and strengthening academic communities. Through this program, Animal Reports seeks to support societies by facilitating the dissemination of their members’ research, promoting scholarly activities, and, where appropriate, providing sponsorship or publishing-related support.

This program is designed to create mutual value by enhancing research visibility, strengthening academic networks, and supporting high-quality scholarly publishing without imposing binding legal or financial obligations.

Key Principles

- Societies without their own journals may affiliate with Animal Reports as their recommended publication outlet as “Scientific Sponsor”.

- Societies with existing journals may affiliate to expand dissemination channels and collaborate on thematic initiatives, such as Special Issues or conference-related publications.

- Affiliations are non-exclusive, non-binding, and flexible, allowing both parties to adapt or discontinue collaboration as circumstances evolve.

Benefit for Societies

Low maintenance

Setting up a society journal can be a complicated, time-consuming task that requires investment and constant upkeep. Our journals already exist with their own staff, so it leaves society members free to focus on more important matters. Affiliations provide stress-free assistance. For that some members of societies administration with scientific surveillance align with the journal scope may be invited to serve on the editorial board.  These representatives will contribute meaningfully to editorial oversight, peer-review processes, and strategic development.

Non-binding agreement

Affiliation does not constitute a legal or financial obligation. Societies are free to affiliate with multiple journals, and Animal Reports may collaborate with multiple societies simultaneously. This flexibility ensures responsiveness to changing academic, strategic, or organizational needs.

Increased Visibility for Society

Society affiliations are featured prominently on the journal webpage, as well as in the Society Collaborations section of the journal (with brief introduction about society with direct link to the society website). Our journals provide the ideal promotional platform for societies, as a result, this can help attract members and improve citation prospects. In addition, news and conference announcements can be shared with a larger audience than would otherwise be possible.

Opportunity to Establish Special Issues

Societies can easily set up their own research Special Issues to reflect their indevoured to advance specific field of science and interest. Also, conference Special Issue can be hosted in accordance with journal authors’ guidelines. This makes distributing their research more efficient and personalized.

Support for Society Conferences

Our journals could sponsor different activities at society conferences. These sponsorships are reserved for the events considered the most suitable, which are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Conference-related Special Issues or proceedings may also be hosted, providing an efficient and recognized publication pathway for presented research.

Article Processing Charge (APC) discounted

Affiliated societies and their members are eligible for APC discounts (if any), where applicable. When societies sign up, they receive a code to share with members, which must be used to receive the agreed discount of APCs of 20-40% of their submissions. The code must be applied at submission to activate the agreed reduction.

Benefit for the Journal

An affiliation with a leading society is a strategic partnership that significantly enhances the journal's academic position and operational effectiveness. The key benefits for journals include:

Enhanced Prestige and Credibility

An official endorsement from a respected society serves as a powerful mark of quality and relevance. It signals to the research community that the journal is a recognized and trusted venue for publishing work in that specific field, thereby boosting the journal's impact factor and reputation.

Increased Submission Volume and Quality

Societies naturally direct their members toward affiliated journals. This partnership provides a direct and trusted channel to receive a consistent flow of high-quality manuscript submissions from a targeted community of active researchers, which is the lifeblood of any journal.

Strengthened Editorial Board and Expertise

The opportunity to integrate some members of the society's administration into the editorial board provides invaluable expertise. This strengthens the journal's leadership, ensures scientific rigor, and guarantees that the journal remains at the forefront of developments in animal welfare and research practices.

Targeted and Engaged Readership

Society affiliations guarantee that the journal's content reaches a highly relevant and engaged audience. Society members are core readers and contributors in the field, leading to higher article downloads, citations, and overall visibility for the research published in our journal.

Authentic Community Engagement

This program moves beyond transactional publishing to build genuine, long-term relationships with key opinion leaders and research communities. This ensures the journal remains closely attuned to the needs and trends within the field, fostering loyalty and advocacy.

Efficient Special Issue Curation

Collaborating with societies to create Special Issues ensures that these collections address the most current and pressing topics in the field. Society’s network guarantees high participation from leading experts, making these issues highly cited and influential.

Reduced Marketing and Outreach Costs

Society acts as a powerful promotional partner, sharing journal websites, logos, brief descriptions about the journal, news, calls for special issues, and published issues with its members through its own channels (Website, social media,.. etc). This amplifies the journal's messaging efficiently and reaches a pre-qualified audience at a low cost.
